MySQL and MyBooks
2005.10.15 @ 20:09:28 -0500 under Books
Ever since I got into the habit of buying books, I have been wanting to categorize them and be able to retrieve them according to a search criterion. Every time I started out doing it, I took too many fields into account and never actually got the database done. Just when I was wondering as to what would be a good (and easy) way to learn MySQL, I bumped into phpMyAdmin (via Paul Schou’s Strawberry) : it made my life a lot more easier and I am learning MySQL pretty fast. From not knowing a thing in MySQL yesterday around same time to being able to create a database with a decent-enough search engine, is pretty satisfactory progress, at least to me. Nearly 100 of my books have been entered into this database. I still have about 100 more books to go!
