It’s All My Fault!

2006.10.31 @ 18:59:53 -0600 under  Life, Sports

After a very blistering start to the regular season, to winning the division with about 15 games left, to loosing the division to the Twins on the last day of regular season, to beating Yankees and Athletics in the first two rounds of MLB PlayOffs, Detroit Tigers had a hell of a season and gave us plenty to cheer/talk/brag about. However World Series (it’s just a National Championship and there is just one team from Canada, I suppose) turned out to be a complete disaster - too many fielding errors and lack of offense to make up for defensive errors meant that St. Louis Cardinals finally managed to return the 1968 favor…

I wouldn’t completely blame Tigers’ poor show alone for loosing the MLB Championship - yours-truly is to be blamed equally, if not less. What did I do, you ask? I supported the Tigers! Being in Michigan, isn’t that your duty, you ask? Well, allow me to explain -

Detroit Pistons
Detroit Tigers

  1. 2003-04 NBA Season : Detroit Pistons won The Finals beating LA Lakers and guess who I was supporting? yeah - LA Lakers
  2. 2004-05 NBA Season : Detroit Pistons lost The Finals to San Antonio Spurs and guess who I was supporting? Pistons
  3. 2005-06 NBA Season : Detroit Pistons lost Eastern Conference Finals to Miami Heat and who I was supporting? Pistons
  4. 2003-04 MLB Season : Detroit Tigers didn’t qualify for PlayOffs
  5. 2004-05 MLB Season : Detroit Tigers didn’t qualify for PlayOffs
  6. 2005-06 MLB Season : Detroit Tigers lost the World Series to St. Louis Cardinals

Need more evidence? With 2006-07 NBA Season starting this week, you know who I will be supporting - especially when it comes to the PlayOffs…

You better not make the Pistons lose. Baseball is one thing, but Basketball is a completely different matter.

@chong,
I will try my best: last couple times I was under the impression that it was *by chance*. With three reliable data points for my observation, I will not repeat my mistakes :D
