2009 – The Year That Was

It’s that time of the year again. Although December 31st is just another day and is just as good as any of the other 364/365 days, last day of the year nevertheless serves as a good point in time-line to pause and reflect upon what the year brought along. The list of what the year did to me is pretty long – some good, few not so good, some inexplicably fair and few apparently unfair – and to narrate each one of them in any detail would be an improbable task. Believing that a picture is worth a thousand words, I figured the collage below would summarize the year to a good extent.

2009

As for the next 365 days or so, here are some things I like to do, in no particular order; thanks to dear friend Nils Stenvig (@UPBeaches) for the coffee mug.

  1. Continue to do the work I love while keeping my body in the same place as my heart & soul, living amidst people that have gone out of their way to help me in more ways than one. I could be asking for a bit too much but guess I have to right to dream & since one of last year’s dream did become a reality, I have no reason to believe this one won’t.
  2. Pursue sports, photography & computers in greater detail.
  3. Run longer distances consistently and for a cumulative of 1,000 miles.
  4. Be more organized, disciplined, consistent and efficient in things I do.
  5. Experience what it feels to be stinkingly rich.

I hadn’t commented on this before. This is an awesome collage. I wish to comment on some that I like: (1) The shot of city through the fence is amazing. (2) West/North Portage Entry Light at sunset is pretty sweet. I have an idea if I come back to Houghton this summer. (3) T.O. rocks. (4) I thought we agreed those ‘flexing’ shots were going to be deleted… j/k. KMM forced us to do it. (5) Cal is a nike ad. (6) Quincy Mineshaft star trails = Awesome. (7) Orlando’s Got the Magic has 8 colors I think. Impressive. (8) I think I know the kid running in the pink snuggie. (9) Here comes the rain from Brockway is going to be on my wall one day, as will (10) the bridge. (11) Husky Grad Students. 6 Yr Plan. I’m actually on the 6.5 Yr Plan, so… (12) I immediately missed Surplus Outlet. (13, 14, 15) The ‘best row’ of photos in the whole collage = 2nd row from bottom.

And have you thought about doing a night shot of the Houghton streets? You’d need a good vantage point, but a shot downtown with the new brick street and “car trails” would be sweet, in my limited photography imagination.

Also, why is my DH Falls carhartt modeling pic not in here? And the picture Karen took of you with the ‘G’ marker at the football game?

  8. [...] ways than one. I could be asking for a bit too much but guess I have to right to dream & since one of last year’s dream did become a reality, I have no reason to believe this one [...]
