   @Shalini:
   I would love to but beauty of shlokas from kagga is that while they seem to have a literal meaning at the first read, they seem to have a more valuable meaning when viewed through the goggles of one’s own life experience(s). And moreover, it’s a very common feeling amongst readers/students of this work that the scope, meaning and understanding of these shlokas grow deeper (and sometimes change too) with life’s experiences. As such, the aforementioned beauty of these poems along with the beauty of life (that each of our lives & experiences are different) may make my understanding of these poems (owing to limited experiences in my life) not so appealing to someone else.

   But to understand the literal meaning of these poems, you may start with three books - kagga (this does explain some shlokas and meaning of some old Kannada phrases); kaggakkondu kaipidi by Shreekanth (with explanation for every shloka) and Kannada Rathnakosha (a Kannada-Kannada dictionary from Kannada Sahitya Parishat) — all three of which are available in Ankita Pustaka (Gandhi Bazaar) or Vedanta Book House (Chamarajpet) in Bangalore.

   If you are not the book-reading type of person or you do not have much time to spare, you can buy the 4-volume set of CDs narrated and explained by Prof. H S Lakshminarayana Bhatta. There are some other folks who have done similar things but I seemed to like Dr. Bhatta’s version. This too is available in one of the shops mentioned above.
