Tiger

From the tales of B R Hills safari, I learned that seeing a Tiger has very little probablity, with one of the frequent visitors not being able to see one even after 20+ years. It just happened that I was traveling (on this safari) with those people who were loooong due for a Tiger sighting. Though others on this safari (viz. Kalyan, Mandanna and Phillip) thought I was their *lucky charm*, I would beg to differ. This picture, though nowhere near crisp and to my personal satisfaction, is still my most prized snap of B R Hills visit and tiger's cold stare still gives me goosebumps.

Man I hope this was form a enclosed jeep or something! I see it was at 300mm, but thats still awfully close for a killer like that! I once saw this thing on the discovery channel where they were trying to locate a tiger from atop an elephant in a feild of tall grass. The tiger bounds out of nowhere and leaps ontop of one of the elephants after one of the men. I had never seen such a display of stealth and power, of course it was a mother and they had already gotten the cubs so she was pissed I am sure. Sorry to ramble on but, this image really reminds me of their majesty and ferociousness. Outstanding!

@remy fauxtog:
I hear you - it was an open jeep and the only ammunition we had at our disposal was a set of cameras/lens. Guess the only thing that saved us was that, like you mentioned, she had her cubs to take care of. But remembering it gives me chills even to this day, though we were a good 50-100 feet away from her and submerged in excitement of seeing her in the wild!
