@pass_lake:
Thank you :)

Rain (and sometimes snow) can be really useful while shooting waterfalls. They offer cloud cover and thus reduce the ambient light in your scene, which in turn helps you get longer exposures - making water look like milk. As long as you have some form of protection for your camera, you should be ok.

Good luck shooting them :)

thanks for the advice. I purchased an 8 stop grad filter which should also help to slow things down. I am pretty excited.
By the way, I am just north of you in Northwestern Ontario near Thunder Bay, Ontario

@pass_lake:
I believe you bought a ND8 filter? If so, it's a 3-stop (2^3) filter. I have it and love it :) I used to live in Upper Michigan till February 08 - now I live in central New Jersey.
