I was told by a dear friend that this one was a female Northern Cardinal. The female-kind seems to like my camera I suppose - that's the only explanation I can come up with...

Amazing shot! That bird is so fidgety and elusive! Really nice picture! One who has observed this bird will truly appreciate the skill required to shoot it, it probably stayed in that position for a few nanoseconds? Btw, are you sure it is a female? I have seen female Cardinals, which are brown with red beaks. May be I am wrong.

You are right - the bird just keeps hopping and seems restless all the time. About this one being male or female, I am not really sure - I am pretty bad at identifying birds :(
